MUCH LUCK LOST?
Call it luck, or not, but there has been a streak of 'unanswered' paintings. All 3 Greens disappeared, and one of them when into the hands of the unknown. A side project of mine called the #MuchLoveTreasureHunt has also been deployed without a few responses. The Much Love project is a traveling art hunt. Wherever PonderMonster travels, there will be a "MuchLove" painting left behind (blog to come). So far, paintings have been left in Las Vegas, MOAB, Seattle, Glenwood springs and Aspen. Both Aspen and Glenwood Springs vanished without a trace.
Seeing the happiness of others is main force driving this entire project. Understandably, not everyone has Instagram, but chances are everyone knows someone who does. So once again, tailoring the note found with the painting to produce proper results for the artist has been needed. The note now includes, "Don't have Instagram? No problem, just find a friend who does and use theirs!" It's the only thing wanted in return for a wonderfully free piece of art. It's like people fishing, and when there is a snapped fishing line with a lost hook, it breaks my heart ever so slightly. Hopefully though, the missing paintings have found a good home, and will turn up some day, but not in a dumpster. So lets take a moment to remember the paintings lost to the universe... (mental pause) Okay great! Let's move on to tell the story of GREEN.
GREEN = LUCK
Thought that this would be the most fun theme to work with for green. Many of you guessed, but no one said luck. Guesses included, Earth Day, Marijuana, Grass, Growth....
This delightful little Ponder Monster has a lucky horseshoe for a body surrounded by 11 lucky charms made up of stars, clovers and 7's.
Here is the note found with each green painting.
Originally, these were going to be left out with no clues or pictures, and only those lucky enough to stumble upon these babies would be able to take them home. However, the two missing Much Love paintings got me worried and I couldn't bare to think of one more gone missing.
GREEN painting 1 of 3 had this clue: "Don't be too loud when you pick it up, or else you'll see four hooves in the air." It was placed outside The Fainting Goat just off of 8th and Lincoln in Denver, CO. While waiting, a homeless man on a bike road straight up to it, picked it up, turned it over and then put it back. Now, I don't want to be a picky jerk about who my art goes to, but a lot of time, effort and love goes into each painting. It is for everyone to see and enjoy, but something tells me he didn't have Instagram.
Couldn't take it anymore, so I left the scene. As per usual, 5 minutes after leaving, @possomikin put the clues together and found it!
GREEN painting 2 of 3 had this clue: "This time on a wall along the Santa Fe art strip. I won't tell you where it is exactly, but it's brilliant. BRILLIANT I say!!!"
This one took a while, and had to post a second identifying picture for people to find it. Congrats to @pennstatephil and his kitty Nibbler for snagging this one!
GREEN painting 3 of 3 had this clue FIRST: "Follow the pictures and it's yours". Easy right? Well, it sat there for over 18 hours. 18 hours people!!!!!!! Friends... just when I thought everyone was fighting over these, not one of you goes to look for it. Sad. So, it was moved. (Although, realizing now, that it should've been left... lesson learned for all of us)
The SECOND clue: "It has now been moved to the new location you see here. Perhaps a stroll in the park will land you this last GREEN painting. Then say cheese, man." Left at Cheesman. This time, so many of you responded in the hopes to find it. Where was this enthusiasm the day before? Anyways, a lesson to us all was that it was gone in less than 10 minutes by someone who never shared their find. Whoever you are, I hope you love it, and that it's found a great new home.
LOST FOREVER...?
CONGRATULATIONS once again to all those lucky enough to find yourself a GREEN painting. May luck be forever with you!
NEXT STOP #BLUE, which starts tomorrow! For those of you reading this, here is your first clue for one of the paintings that may put you in the right area. Clue: Inside this public place built of so many colors and shapes, about the world we come to learn, but food, drink and loud voices are this building's concern.
Until next time my wonderful treasure hunters!
Much love,
-PM
P.S. Be a PonderMonster too and start PonderMonstering all over your hometown. Create and hide for all to find. Here are a couple of individuals inspired by the Ponder Monster art movement.
Thank you for being inspired to create and share, all the way from Silver City, NM @NomadikNoize
Huge thank you to @SpaceKoyote out in the San Francisco, CA bay area for starting a series of your own! Hopefully someday we can collaborate on a project. This truly warms my heart.
